COVID-19 Simulation
Safety Plan


Until further notice, the following policies apply to all Tulane Sim Center sessions, courses, and assessments. If you have any concerns, contact Jennifer Calzada, Director for Simulation at jcalzada@tulane.edu.


FIVE PILLAR SIMULATION SAFETY PLANS


1.  Masks must be worn in all common and simulation areas.
•   Entering the Murphy Building, elevators, stairwells, hallways, and bathrooms.
•    During all hands-on simulation, unless you are alone.
•    Cloth reusable masks are acceptable, and we ask that participants bring one, if available.
•    Some hands-on simulation may also require gloves.


2.  Temperature check upon arrival at the Sim Center.
•   Forehead contactless temperature check.
•   Anyone registering 100.4F or greater will have to leave the building immediately and should
contact their healthcare provider.


3.  Wash or sanitize hands both before participating in hands-on simulation and after hands-on
simulation.


4.  Special room capacity limits. Rooms are marked with capacity limits and some have floor markers
that allow social distancing.


5.  Enhanced and frequent cleaning and disinfecting by both Tulane housekeeping and Sim Center
staff after and in between all sessions.

Please follow all directions from staff, keep your mask on when directed, wash and sanitize your hands frequently, and keep all personal items, including cell phones, out of simulation rooms at all times. Payment must be made in advance of course date. Cancellations and rescheduling (including switching course dates with another student) must be done at least 5 days prior to the course date or a $25 fee will be charged.

ACLS & PALS courses require a precourse test and all refresher students must provide a copy of a current provider card prior to course date. 

The Sim Center does not accept personal checks for course registration fees. Students can pay cash, by credit card or a business/employer’s check.

The Sim Center reserves the right to cancel these courses due to unforeseen circumstances or low enrollment.

Cancellation due to enrollment would be announced no later than 1 week prior to course dates. Students will be rescheduled to a later date or provided a full refund.
